How Explore and status levels work

Wavforall has no public popularity counters: no play or subscriber numbers, no charts. This page explains in plain words what decides the order of producers and what the status levels mean.

The order in Explore

Featured

Every day 6 producers are featured at the top of Explore: 4 chosen by the WavBoost score among producers with at least 12 active subscribers, and 2 Rising spots reserved for new or growing producers. A small daily rotation changes the order from one day to the next. While few producers have 12 subscribers, the free spots go to the best scores.

The genre rows and genre pages list producers by number of published beats.

The WavBoost score

The score (0–100) measures how much listeners and subscribers appreciate a producer. It uses rates, not totals, so a small producer whose music works can rank above a big one. It looks at the last 30 days, and the last 15 count double. With little data, each rate stays close to the platform average until there is enough evidence.

  • Listening retention (25%): how many listeners keep a preview playing until the end (70% of it, or 30 seconds).
  • Conversion (25%): how many portfolio visits turn into a subscription.
  • Subscriber satisfaction (25%): renewals, and how much subscribers use their downloads.
  • Beat Jolly appeal (15%): how often subscribers of other producers pick this producer for their Beat Jolly.
  • Reviews (10%): the average of the public reviews, corrected for how many there are.

Conversion, renewals and downloads weigh more than listening because they are the hardest signals to fake and they show real value for artists.

Rising spots

A producer is Rising with fewer than 12 active subscribers, at least one active plan and 3 beats, good listening retention, fewer than 300 views in the last 30 days, and either a first beat published in the last 60 days or a beat uploaded in the last 21 days. Rising spots go first to the best listening retention and, among equals, to whoever has been seen the least.

No paid placements

Nobody can pay to appear in Explore. If sponsored placements are ever introduced, they will be clearly marked as sponsored.

Fair play

We don't count bots, a producer's own listens and visits, or repeated listens from the same visitor on the same day. Unusual spikes of unsuccessful visits or listens on a single day are capped, so nobody can sink a competitor with fake traffic.

The data we use

To measure these rates we record views of producer cards, portfolio visits and preview listens, linked to an anonymous code that changes every day. We don't use cookies for this, we don't store IP addresses or browser details, and the data is deleted after 35 days.

Status levels

Status levels show a producer's path on Wavforall without revealing their numbers. They are cumulative: each level also requires everything the previous one does.
